rnd.de

The Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND) is an association of around 60 small and medium-sized regional newspapers based in Hanover. Most of the members' regional content is produced in-house, but all members are also supplied with national content by an RND central editorial team. RND operates its own newsroom in Hanover, its own capital city office in Berlin and maintains a "worldwide network of correspondents". According to its own information, RND is one of the largest editorial networks in Germany with a daily print run totalling 2.3 million copies.

While the members of RND publish their printed versions in their own names, there is an additional online news portal, rnd.de, which bears the name of the network.

Madsack's largest single shareholder is ddvg (Deutsche Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft), which is 100 per cent owned by the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany). This ownership structure is repeatedly the subject of discussions about the influence of political parties on media companies. Today, only Sylvia Madsack, the daughter of founder Erich Madsack, is still active in the company.
