Bremen Eins

Bremen Eins went on air on April 30, 2001, and is one of five radio programmes of Radio Bremen, the smallest ARD member corporation: Bremen Eins, Bremen Zwei, Bremen Vier, Bremen Next, and COSMO.
Bremen Eins resulted from the merger of Radio Bremen Melodie (founded in 1964) and Hansawelle (founded in 1946). The merger became necessary following significant budget cuts.
To particularly reach former listeners of Radio Bremen Melodie, Bremen Eins featured a high proportion of German-language music at its launch. Today, the music selection follows the motto "The Soundtrack of My Life," featuring "the greatest hits of all time," oldies, and evergreens from recent decades, aimed at audiences aged 45 and over.
In addition to music, the programme includes news, weather, traffic reports, and the ARD Bundesliga Conference, also featuring live reports from Werder Bremen matches. With 115,000 listeners per day, Bremen Eins ranks first by far in Bremen.
