Hit Radio FFH is a radio station operated by RADIO/TELE FFH GmbH & Co. Betriebs-KG (operating partnership with limited liability).
The largest shareholders are Axel Springer Audio GmbH (15%), which belongs to the Springer Group, VRM Holding GmbH & Co. KG (15.1%), and Verlag Dierichs GmbH & Co. KG (13.4%). VRM Holding GmbH is owned by multiple shareholders who collectively hold shares in the company.
Verlag Dierichs is 80 percent owned by ZHH Zeitungsholding Hessen GmbH & Co. KG, which in turn is owned by F. Wolff & Sohn KG, a company belonging to the Ippen Group. F. Wolff & Sohn KG is held 60 percent by the Ippen family, 30 percent by Daniel Schönigh (Managing Director of Ippen Media Group and nephew of Dirk Ippen), and 10 percent by Harald Brenner (listed as attorney for Münchener Zeitungsverlag GmbH & Co. KG, a publication of the Ippen Media Group). This way 10.72% of Hit Radio FFH belongs to the Ippen Group via the direct share of Verlag Dierichs GmbH & Co. KG. In addition, the Ippen family holds a further 2.66% via a network of subsidiary companies. Overall, the Ippen family is thus the largest owner family of Hit Radio FFH.
The remaining and largest shareholding in Hit Radio FFH is distributed among multiple entities that collectively hold 71.6 percent of shares. Some shares are held by newspaper and publishing families, including the Burda family (4.4%) and the Oschmann family (4.44%). The majority of the remaining shares in single-digit percentages are held by local shareholders, including Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung GmbH (5.9%) and its shareholders, as well as Süddeutsche Zeitung and its principal shareholder Thomas Schaub (0.02%) and the Friedmann family (0.01%).

Founding Year1988

The station was founded on March 15, 1988 by a consortium of 50 shareholders, including 36 Hessian newspaper publishers as well as national publishing houses, the Hessian Farmers Association (Hessischer Bauernverband), and the Hesse State Sports Association (Landessportbund Hessen). The founding followed the deregulation of the radio market and the allocation of radio licenses to private operators. In November 1989, the station was granted its radio license, and on November 15, 1989, the first broadcast was transmitted.

Under his leadership, HIT RADIO FFH expanded its market leadership in Hesse and, according to the Media Analysis 2025 Audio, reaches approximately 2.74 million listeners daily.

    Marko Eichmann has served as Head of Program at FFH MEDIENGRUPPE since July 15, 2024 and is responsible for the programming strategies of the stations HIT RADIO FFH, Planet Radio, and the 1980s-focused station Harmony.fm. He previously held the position of Programming Director for Planet Radio and was instrumental in the repositioning of Harmony.fm – responsibilities he has taken on with increasing experience in the radio market. Under his leadership, the station has increasingly focused on regional reporting and multimedia formats to establish closer connection with listeners and to deliver content more extensively across digital channels.
