Media Ownership

The German media landscape is dominated by a few players. At the top, there are family-owned companies such as Bertelsmann, Axel Springer and Hubert Burda Media. These corporations, led by influential families such as Mohn, Springer and Burda, have a decisive influence on the media scene. In addition, public broadcasters such as ARD and ZDF play an important role. Financial investors, such as ProSiebenSat.1 and Axel Springer, are also involved. MOM examines the background and impact of these ownership structures on the German media landscape.
