The Fromm family
The Fromm family refers to the community of heirs consisting of Andreas Fromm, Johanna Bruns-Fromm, their son Nicolas Fromm and Maximilian Pfeil.
They are the children and grandchildren of Leo Victor Fromm, the founding publisher of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ). The community of heirs owns 50 per cent of the shares in Neue Osnabrücker Zeitungs GmbH & Co. KG. They also own 50% of the shares in NOZ Medien Holding GmbH, which in itself owns shares in more than two dozen other companies. Through the media companies listed below, the Fromm family has links to more than 70 medium-sized and small local newspapers, weekly newspapers, journals, magazines and online portals. These are mainly located in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The medien holding:nord GmbH, which holds 25 per cent of the shares in Regiocast GmbH & Co. KG, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NOZ Medien Verlags GmbH, which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NOZ Medien Holding. In addition, the shareholding in Regiocast GmbH & Co. KG, there are also investments in various (local) radio stations.
In 1998, Leo Victor Fromm also set up a foundation to ‘promote and disseminate language (...) in a scientific or cultural way’.
The NOZ and its online version regularly report on the Fromm Foundation and individual members of the Fromm family, although it is not always made clear that they are the owners of the newspaper.

was the founding editor of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung. He was the publisher of the Neue Tagespost, which merged with the Osnabrücker Tageblatt of the Menders & Elstermann publishing house in 1967. This resulted in the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, which has since been owned by the two publishing families Fromm and Elstermann. The second founding publisher was Elisabeth Elstermann.
